Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

NISM Professor (“we”, “us”) operates nismprofessor.com, a free study platform for NISM certification examinations. For the purposes of India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”), we are the Data Fiduciary for the personal data described below, and you are the Data Principal.

2. What we collect

We collect only what the platform needs in order to work:

• Account data — your name, email address and a securely hashed password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google; we never receive your Google password.
• Learning data — which exams you enrol in, lessons you open, answers you submit, scores, time spent per question and your progress through each level. This is what produces your readiness score and weak-area report; without it the platform cannot function.
• Content reports — if you flag a lesson or question as wrong, we store your report and link it to your account so we can follow up.
• Technical data — IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited and referring page. Used for security, abuse prevention and aggregate analytics.
• Referral and sharing data — if you share a result or refer a friend, we record that a share occurred and whether the link was opened, so referral rewards can be verified.

3. Why we use it, and on what basis

Under the DPDP Act we process your data on the basis of the consent you give when you create an account, and for the legitimate uses the Act permits (such as security and fraud prevention). Specifically we use your data to:

• create and secure your account, and sign you in;
• track your progress, unlock levels and calculate scores and exam readiness;
• show you which topics you are weakest in, so your study time goes where it counts;
• respond to your questions, grievances and content reports;
• detect abuse, automated scraping and attempts to game referral rewards;
• understand in aggregate which lessons work, so we can improve them.

4. Advertising and third-party cookies

NISM Professor is free to use and is supported by advertising. When advertising is enabled on this site, the following applies:

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
• You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of third-party vendor cookies at aboutads.info/choices.
• We do not allow advertising on timed examination screens, on sign-in or registration screens, or on these policy pages.

You control advertising and analytics cookies through our cookie settings. If you decline, only cookies strictly necessary to keep you signed in are used.

5. Who we share data with

We share personal data only with service providers who help us run the platform:

• Google — for optional sign-in and, when enabled, advertising.
• Our hosting and database provider — to store the platform and your account.
• Law enforcement or regulators — only where we are legally required to do so.

We do not share your learning data, scores or reports with employers, NISM, SEBI or any other third party.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your account and learning data for as long as your account is open. If you delete your account, we erase your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain something by law. Aggregate, anonymised statistics that cannot identify you may be kept indefinitely.

7. Your rights

Under the DPDP Act you have the right to:

• Access — obtain a summary of the personal data we hold about you;
• Correction — have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected or updated;
• Erasure — have your personal data deleted, by deleting your account;
• Withdraw consent — as easily as you gave it;
• Grievance redressal — raise a complaint with us, as set out below;
• Nominate — nominate another person to exercise your rights in the event of death or incapacity.

8. Grievance Officer

In accordance with the DPDP Act 2023 and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, our Grievance Officer can be reached at:

We acknowledge every grievance and aim to resolve it within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may escalate to the Data Protection Board of India.

9. Children

NISM certification examinations are professional qualifications. This platform is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly create accounts for anyone under 18. Under the DPDP Act we do not undertake tracking or behavioural advertising directed at children. If you believe a child has registered, contact us and we will remove the account.

10. Security

Passwords are stored only as salted hashes — we cannot read your password. Data is transmitted over HTTPS. Access to the production database is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, and if a personal data breach occurs we will notify you and the Data Protection Board as required by law.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy materially we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change affects how we use your data, notify you in the app before it takes effect.
