Steepening widens the gap between long and short rates and moves the curve anti-clockwise; flattening narrows it and moves it clockwise; a parallel shift moves all rates equally.

- Current yieldA bond's annual coupon in rupees divided by its current market price — the cash income the bond throws off this year, ignoring any gain or loss at redemption.
